DBT BioCARe Programme 2026–27 for Women Researchers – Apply Online
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India has invited applications for the Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-Orientation (BioCARe) Programme for eligible women researchers.
🎓 Category I
Women researchers who have completed:
- Ph.D. in Biotechnology
- Ph.D. in Life Sciences or allied areas
- Interdisciplinary sciences
- MD
- MDS
- M.V.Sc.
🧪 Category II
Eligible qualifications include:
- M.Tech. in Biotechnology
- M.Tech. in allied areas
- M.Pharm
- Equivalent eligible qualification
✅ Key Eligibility Conditions
- Applicant must be an Indian woman national residing in India.
- Maximum age is 55 years.
- Applicant must be unemployed on the closing date.
- Candidates registered or enrolled in higher studies / Ph.D. or receiving another fellowship are not eligible.
- Research support is intended for applicants for whom this is their first extramural research grant.
- Women researchers who have previously received a Government funding-agency grant as Principal Investigator are not eligible.
💰 Nature of Support
Selected BioCARe fellows will receive a consolidated research grant covering eligible recurring and non-recurring expenditure required for the approved research project along with a fellowship, subject to DBT programme rules.
The fellowship is co-terminus with the duration of the sanctioned project.

Eligible candidates must submit their application online through the Common Fellowship Portal of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
- Open the Common Fellowship Portal.
- Register/login using your valid details.
- Select the DBT BioCARe Programme.
- Complete the application form.
- Upload the required supporting documents.
- Submit the application before 23 September 2026.
