Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – Human Resource Development Group (CSIR-HRDG) is inviting online applications for the award of Senior Research Fellowship (SRF-Direct) for eligible researchers across India.
About CSIR Direct SRF 2026
The Human Resource Development Group of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research provides research fellowships to eligible Indian researchers for advanced research training under expert scientists and faculty members.
The fellowship may be undertaken in eligible universities, IITs, postgraduate colleges, CSIR laboratories, government research establishments, recognised R&D organisations and other approved institutions in India.
Educational Qualification & Eligibility
Candidates may apply under the relevant qualification category, subject to the research experience and publication requirements prescribed by CSIR.
Minimum 55% marks, one SCI journal publication and at least two years of post-degree research experience.
Minimum 60% marks in the relevant engineering or technology discipline.
Minimum 60% marks with at least two years of research experience as on the last date of application.
Minimum 60% marks along with one year internship.
Minimum 55% marks, one SCI journal publication and at least three years of research experience.
Minimum 55% marks, one SCI journal publication and at least one year of research experience.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for CSIR SRF-Direct is 32 years.
- Up to 5 years relaxation for SC/ST, persons with disabilities and female applicants as per CSIR guidelines.
- Up to 3 years relaxation for eligible OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates.
CSIR SRF Stipend
Selected SRF-Direct fellows in science, engineering, medical, pharmaceutical and veterinary disciplines are entitled to a fellowship stipend of:
Fellowship Tenure
The SRF-Direct fellowship is initially awarded for 2 years.
Extension for the third year may be considered after evaluation of the research progress by the prescribed expert committee and subject to CSIR rules.
Selection Process
- Applications will first be screened by CSIR.
- Eligible shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview.
- Academic record, research experience, publications and project work may be assessed by discipline-wise expert committees.
- Merely satisfying the minimum eligibility conditions does not automatically guarantee an interview call.
